Quickstart: run the Logstrm Data Plane

This guide starts a Logstrm instance using an official binary and configuration supplied with your Logstrm distribution. It does not require access to the source repository. The Data Plane will only receive events after you configure and enable an input connector.

Before you begin

Obtain a Logstrm release package and its version-matched configuration example through the distribution channel provided for your organization. The package should identify its supported operating systems, architecture, and any required credentials. Do not substitute a development build or an unverified container image for a production release.

Start the Data Plane

Place the supplied executable and a reviewed configuration file in your working directory. If your distribution uses different filenames, substitute those names below.

The default API listener is :8080. Check the health endpoint from the host running Logstrm:

A healthy API response confirms that the process is running; it does not confirm that an input is enabled or that events are reaching a destination.

Verify an event flow

  1. Configure and enable an input supported by your distribution, such as a source described in Connectors.
  2. Configure a pipeline and route for that source, plus a destination emitter. Start with the YAML specification.
  3. Send a representative test event through the configured source using that source's documented protocol.
  4. Confirm delivery at the destination and inspect counters and errors in Observability. Use Live Tail for temporary operational inspection where appropriate.

There is no generic public test-ingest endpoint in this quickstart. In particular, the benchmark-only HTTP ingestor is not a customer ingestion API. Do not enable it in a production deployment.
